Incheon qualified for the inaugural ACL in 2022 by finishing fourth in the league, and advanced with a 3-1 playoff victory over Vietnam's Hai Phong FC on March 22.

Incheon's first opponent in the historic ACL is Yokohama F. Marinos. Yokohama comes into the ACL having won the J1 League title last year, and they are a formidable opponent as they currently sit in second place in the J1 League (15 wins, 6 draws, 6 losses).

Yokohama is currently the top scorer among the 18 teams in the J1 League with 50 goals in 27 games, while their leading goal scorer, Andelsson, is second in the league with 17 goals in 27 games. The match between the two teams will take place on Sept. 19 at Nissan Stadium.

Ulsan enters the ACL as last year's K League champions. Ulsan won the ACL title in 2020 and reached the ACL quarterfinals in 2021, but suffered a humiliating group stage exit last year.

This year, Ulsan's first opponent as they look to return to the top of Asia is BG Pathum United. Pathum advanced to the ACL after defeating China's Shanghai Haigang 3-2 in the playoffs and currently sit fifth in the Thai League 1.

The Goblins are a tough opponent, having reached the ACL Round of 16 in 2021 and the ACL Quarterfinals in 2022. The match between Ulsan and Fatum will take place on Nov. 19 at Munsu Soccer Stadium in Ulsan.

Defending FA Cup champions Jeonbuk will take on Kitsch SC in their first ACL group match. Kitsch SC is the league leader this year after winning the Hong Kong Premier League last year and features former Jeonbuk player Kim Shin-wook.

Kitchee also had a strong showing in the ACL last year, reaching the round of 16. The match between Jeonbuk and Kitchee will take place at Jeonju World Cup Stadium at 7 p.m. on Nov. 20.

Pohang, the furthest traveled of the four K League teams, will host Hanoi FC at 9 p.m. on Oct. 20 at Hangdeui Stadium. Hanoi FC won the Vietnamese V1 League last year, and while they are considered a step below the K-League teams in terms of strength, this is a match where Hanoi will be able to capitalize on their home advantage.

Pohang will be looking for a miracle in the ACL once again this year, having reached the ACL main stage for the first time in two years after finishing as ACL runners-up in 2021.

17 wins, 14 draws, and 9 losses in the first round of the ACL in the last 10 years

According to the Korea Professional Football Association, the governing body of the K League, the first-round record of K League teams in the ACL over the past 10 years, from 2013 to 2022, is 17 wins, 14 draws, and 9 losses in 40 games. That's a winning percentage of 42.5%.

Looking at each team's record, Jeonbuk has the highest winning percentage with five wins, three draws, and one loss in their last nine ACL first-leg matches. Ulsan followed with two wins in seven games and Pohang with one win in four games.
